Before he was an attorney, Ken Ashworth was an accountant. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Utah University in 1985 and worked at a CPA firm right here in Las Vegas before deciding to pursue law. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law, and has spent his entire 30+ year legal career serving clients throughout Las Vegas, Henderson, and the rest of Clark County.
That accounting background isn’t a footnote — it’s the reason clients come to Ken for problems that sit at the intersection of tax, estate planning, and business ownership: structuring a business to minimize tax exposure, building an estate plan that accounts for a family business, or untangling a trust with real tax complexity. Ken doesn’t just practice tax and estate law — he teaches it. He has led continuing education seminars for the National Business Institute on the use of LLCs in asset protection and estate planning and on post-mortem trust administration, and has trained real estate professionals and Las Vegas Metro Police Department staff on estate planning and tax fundamentals. When other professionals need to understand this area of law, Ken is often the one they turn to.
Ken believes that a law practice is part of the community it serves — and for more than 30 years, that community has been Las Vegas. He has served on the boards of the Maddux See Me Smile Foundation, the Christine C. Schulze Legacy Foundation, and the Werner & Christine Schulze Foundation, and has supported organizations working right here in Southern Nevada, including Project 150 (supporting homeless high school students in the Clark County School District), the Rancho High School Homeless Program in Las Vegas, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in nearby Boulder City, Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, and Safe Nest, Southern Nevada’s largest domestic violence resource.
